Training Report – Day 1: Advancing Capacity and Reducing Vulnerability in Nigeria
Olive Right to Health Initiative, in collaboration with three other Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and four support groups from Nasarawa, Plateau, and Benue states, actively participated in an insightful training session themed "Advancing Capacity and Reducing Vulnerability in Nigeria." This comprehensive training, orchestrated by Lawyers Alert and Elton John Aids Foundation, unfolded in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, spanning from February 20 to 21, 2024.
Organisational Capacity Assessment
The training commenced with a warm welcome address, setting the tone for the enriching discussions that would follow. Stakeholders, including the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), APIN Public Health Initiative (APIN), Legal Aids Council (LAC), Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ministry of Justice, and the Nigeria Police Force, extended goodwill messages. Key aspects of the project, such as its background, objectives, milestones, deliverables, timelines, and the role of partners, were comprehensively discussed.

Engaging discussions ensued among participants, covering project delivery strategies, potential challenges, threats, and other pertinent concerns. A technical session dedicated to organizational capacity assessment provided insights into the 'why,' 'how,' modus operandi, and outlined the next steps.
The first day of the training laid a robust foundation for the exploration of organizational capacities and challenges, fostering an environment conducive to collaborative learning and strategic planning. Participants left with a deeper understanding of the project's objectives and the essential steps required to enhance organizational capabilities.
